Field Mission 7: The Queen of Hearts, Call to Arms
![]()
![]() 1. THE ENCROACHING TIDES![]() Three weeks past the celebration of H.R.H. The Queen of Heart's annual celebratory commemortating event of her coronation, the ground begins to violently shake with an unknown pulse. All throughout the kingdom, from the reaches of the Emberwharf to the tiny hamlet of Harrowyn, it's felt. For those of you who've begun to reclaim your memories, you know something just isn't right. The way the world churns, the lack in spots of your own detailed memories, the apprehension and dread that it brings... all of it seems to be one big sign of trouble. Karsus, now known to all as Merlin, the cryptic and helpful (questionable) wizard, resides in the Enchanted Forest, awaiting the Lady of the Lake to give him some sort of sign that she's still out there. As you may have guessed, she's actually Mystra, in hiding, and her role in this story is more important now than ever. Does she know who she is? Is she hating on Magi*Mari as much as everyone else? It's hard to tell. But time is starting to become a scarce resource. You look out to the horizon, and you notice something out of place. The Expanse. It's encroaching at an alarming rate. Around the perimeter of the wall, towns are engulfed into it and lost entirely. This star is dying, becoming consumed. The Evil Queen was right; there's no telling when this would happen, but it was always something that was destined to unfold. And this time, when you look out into the great abyss, it looks back at you. Eyes watching you- all of you, observing. If you haven't recovered your memories by now, a few of them might come rushing in. You can almost make it out. The thing that you've been told to fight. The thing that's been hunting Lucretia and her crew for 100 years. The Hunger's here, and waiting... just outside the bounds of this illusory world. It's time to put a plan that started a year ago into action. It's time to bring magic back to Faerun and take back your stories. But where is that relic? |

1. Kia would like to have Wash's +1 from bonus AC put to the final DC 18 roll!
2. THE POEM BONUS IS LITERALLY SO SWEET THANK YOU SO MUCH (ಥ﹏ಥ) Are any CHA archetype-related numbers in doing this Bard thing are accounted for in the DC/offset by the VERY GENEROUS POTENTIAL RESULTS?
3. Should we succeed with Zarves, does the advantage from the adventuring guide like...stack with the advantage she would give us? Double advantage??? (i have never had this come up in actual D&D i have no idea how that'd work sry)
Other than that we are READY TO ROLL. buckles my seatbelt

You do manage to find Miss Zarves! She's currently running a bookstore in Kingstown, and doesn't seem to have a fairy tale life associated to her at all. It's almost like... she was so fairy tale to begin with that her alternate universe version of herself put her into a very regular, normal life. She retains her personality, though, and you can imagine how wily an encounter with her goes.
Unfortunately, she still has 1 memory to reclaim, and you won't be able to wake her up it looks like (CRITICAL FAILURE). Sayori won't be stopped, though. She pulls out her adventuring book and reads a passage aloud, as it comes to life and starts to create binaries of 1's and 0's all around the room. Zarves looks like she's about to jump out of her skin. "Holy bajeez, what's that sexy thing you got there!?"
She moves her hand forward, and as she does so, all the 1's turn to 0's and all the 0's turn to 1's.
"... Holy shit, I feel like I've been wasted for the last year. Way too much white claw, el-oh-el."
And we're back in business! (a 17)
Let's keep these rolls going.
1. Legend lore! It spouts out a complicated string of information regarding the Light of Creation. How it's a source of remarkable power, said to be left behind as a vestige of the gods who created not just this reality, but all realities across all worlds. The Bond Engine has the ability to tether the strings between all these worlds and store within them the essence of relationships between those people across different dimensions. That's a success. (14)
2. Detect Magic: success! (16). Put a pair of sunglasses on, you're going to need them if you stare directly into the Engine itself. It radiates all 8 schools of magic, all at once, in this weird technicolor sort of rainbow that sears your eyes if looking directly into it.
3. Sayori's poems are a critical fucking success, which is absolutely appropriate. You probably don't need any CHA buffs to that one, it goes off without a single hitch. The bond engine begins to whir frantically, the ring around it spinning faster than it ever has before.
4. Tinkering goes off without a hitch! Be careful of those rings, guys. It's a 18 altogether.
5. Lastly, we're sad to mention it, but Peanut doesn't make it. :( That's a 3.
Perhaps another thing that you couldn't account for - Mystra, The Goddess of Magic, herself appears? She looks eternally annoyed, but that's because she's been dealing with her own stuff down in the bottom of the lake for about a year. She pulls a welder's mask out of thin air and approaches the ring.
"Stand back, this is going to get sparkly."
She wants her gods-damned weave back. We'll give you a +3 to the outcome on top.
Your total bonus to the final roll, all things considered is: +13 from the results, +14 with Wash's +1 bonus AC. The final roll is made with advantage.
The Starblaster begins hovering in place, the bond engine restored. Mystra's eyes glow a bright, powerful gold, as she lets her welding mask clunk to the floor.
That's a 33?
Yeah.
"What a shitty year."
Mystra's back, baby.
