1. Sanctuary would most likely protect someone momentarily, but it's more like a stop gap measure than an effectively strong application to repel the nasties. It'll relieve some of the pain and some of the symptoms, but not all of them. Eventually, Lion won't be able to concentrate hard enough on enveloping the area in their sacred protective magics, the pulsating emanation of Wonderland's dark forces at work will break in. You can see what Lucretia is doing, from that standpoint- on the outside of the tree- as kind of amazing in that regard... but then again, she's not inside Wonderland trying to repel. She's outside keeping all of its darkness in and not letting it breach the outside world and trying her best to protect the Reclaimers in the process.
2. Essentially, they're the same thing.
3 & 4. We're lumping this together. With the umbrella out and in the open (and dormant), Lucretia's never actually gotten a look at Lion holding it, and for one... very brief moment, she'll notice them with it and the barrier will flicker for a brief moment. "Lion, where did you--- no, not now. We'll have to talk about this when this is all over."
5. It'll appear on your body somewhere. Toss it in a trash can? Now it's in your pocketses. Throw it out a window? It boomerangs back to being in your boot. Shit's weird, man.
